Born in Ridgewood John was raised and lived in Waldwick before moving to Hawthorne. He was a graduate of Waldwick High School. John was an active & dedicated volunteer at Kessler Institute in Saddle Brook. Before retiring in 2005, he was a supervisor with the Road Department at The Village of Ridgewood. He is survived by his beloved daughter Lisa Maratene of Hawthorne and his loving brother Michael Maratene of Waldwick. There are two adoring nieces & two adoring nephews surviving. Funeral service Saturday at 10:00 AM at CC Van Emburgh Funeral Home of Ridgewood. Visiting will be Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
