SMITH- Joseph, E. 75, of Ho-Ho-Kus on January 4, 2010. Born in Paterson, he resided in Ho-Ho-Kus since 1967. Joseph was a graduate of Cornell University and received his engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology. He was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity.He was a parishioner of St. Luke's RC Church in Ho-Ho-Kus.
While working at Gibbs & Cox he helped design the SS United States and was instrumental in developing the first nuclear powered destroyer. He later went on to employment with Burns & Roe in Oradell before retiring.
Surviving are his beloved wife Gloria (nee Syrotiuk) Smith of Ho-Ho-Kus; his two loving daughters, Christine A. Smith of Ho-Ho-Kus and Cynthia A. Smith of Ridgewood. He leaves behind his adoring granddaughter Emily L. Jones and his loving sister Ruth Vlamynck. Also surviving are his three loyal Scotties, Waggstaff, Heather and Tuppence.

My father, Louis J. De Raey, worked for O'Kane Marine and he repaired the 'United States' in conjunction with the port engin eers. I am very sorry for your loss.
