Born in Union City, NJ to Harry and Victoria Kafafian, he resided in Glen Rock until retiring to Belmar. He was the husband of the late Grace Aslanian Kafafian, who passed in 2001. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ridgewood, NJ. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Elks organization in Belmar. Former owner of Spotless Cleaners in Ridgewood, he attended Ridgewood High School where he was a member of the marching band as well as the concert band, the leader of the Willow Club dance band, and a member of the Duke Edwards Orchestra. He leaves his dear brother Edward Kafafian and wife Sonia of Glen Rock, three children Donald Kafafian and wife Diane of Glen Rock, Patricia Kafafian Zengel and husband William of Glen Rock, and Robin Kafafian DiBlasio and husband John of Hazlet, NJ, and six adoring grandchildren Talene Kafafian Baer and husband Charles, Brett Noorigian and partner Sean O'Dea, Gregory Noorigian and wife Stephanie, Renee Zengel Frey and husband Andrew, Michael DiBlasio, and Matthew DiBlasio. He also leaves two precious great-grandchildren, Kyle Frey and Gianna Grace Frey. A funeral service will be held at the C.C.VanEmburgh Funeral Home, 306 E. Ridgewood Ave, Ridgewood NJ on Friday, September 3 at 9am. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 2 from 4-8pm.
